Player Development Programme (PDP)
Dorset & Wilts RFU Player Development Pathway for Women & Girls
Dorset & Wilts RFU has instigated a Player Development Programme (PDP), encompassing junior and senior players, targeting the XV a side game.
The PDP will provide specific sessions, periodically throughout the season and has a focus on the development of individual player skills and game understanding. In addition, there will be specialist sessions on nutrition and physical conditioning appropriate for women and girls.
This programme invites all women and girls playing or interested in playing rugby, to attend the modules. There will be a group in Dorset and a group in Wiltshire working with an identical curriculum. The PDP is not a playing format and is an individual development programme.
The objective of the PDP is to provide an exclusive opportunity to receive specialist skill development in five main areas.
- Mental & Physical
Dorset & Wilts RFU are keen to discover and train more female coaches, to work with women and girls rugby within the twin counties. The Dorset & Wilts RFU Player Development programme (PDP), will be an ideal opportunity for new coaches to shadow experienced deliverers and build confidence. The England Rugby Coach Education team will provide on-going support to all aspiring female coaches.
We invite all current and former women players, to consider taking up the coaching of women and girls in rugby union. Dorset & Wilts RFU will cover the costs of appropriate award courses and offer continued support from the England Rugby Coach Education team.
